What Is The Difference Between An Economical Glove Boxes And Recirculating Clean Bench?

The prime dissimilarity between a recirculating clean bench and an economical glove box is that entire particles are enclosed within the system and are not blended with the air present in the room.

Other crucial differences between an economical glove box and recirculating clean bench are mentioned below-

The primary components of recirculating clean bench comprises of powered fan and HEPA filter, a cabinet enclosed on three sides to restrict the airflow, a perforated work surface, an air collection chamber beneath, a return air chamber which conducts airflow from the collection chamber back to the intake of the air recirculation unit, a movable clear plastic curtain and a backing structure for the bench system.

Whereas the primary components of glove box comprises of an air recirculating system, a HEPA filter of special cleanliness class, a containment box, a perforated secondary floor to boost laminar flow over the work surface, an air lock for introduction of items to be prepared into the glove box and glove ports equipped with sealed gloves of non-particle generating material.

Accessories of clean bench comprises of water taps, gas taps, electrical connections, special integrated support structures and sealed internal light fixtures.

Whereas desirable accessories of glove box comprises of illumination system, separate filtered supply to air lock, electrical distribution system within containment box, waste removal port, attachment port for observing the particles and a flushing system to periodically revive the internal ambience.

Because the air is recirculated through the clean bench, so the filter life is significantly longer.

Whereas there is not any system of recirculating air inside glove box.

Clean bench do not provide any system of regulating humidity or temperature.

Whereas glove box render low humidity processing atmosphere for carrying out broad range of manufacturing and testing procedures.

Clean bench cannot be used for processing toxic materials and flammable liquids in significant quantities.

Whereas glove box helps laboratory employees to perform experiments with dangerous chemicals, for instance radioactive materials or lethal disease agents.

The enclosed system of glove box facilitates handling of such hazardous materials, which might be considered too much risky for clean bench operations.

The best aspect of glove box is that the operator may work without wearing special clothing.

Whereas while working with the clean bench, the operator must wear special laboratory coat and gloves that do not produce particles. In fact, the junction between lab coat and gloves are also sealed in a manner that contains the particles which are consistently generated by the skin of the operator.

In glove box toxic materials can be handled with utmost safety.

But the clean bench can only be utilized for operations that do not emit dangerous components. Acid fuming, volatile organic extractions and executing hazardous operations are not feasible in the system of clean bench.

High optical clarity and good flexibility are some of the desirable features of clean bench. Whereas glove box deals with hazardous chemicals, so it does not offer flexibility in executing variant operations.
